Sabine soars into the Rebel roster this week. Her incredible speed, coupled with tremendous defense, offers a unique option to rebel commanders who are looking for a mobile control piece.
Offense (Surge to Crit)
Average Ranged Output (Pierce 1) = 1.88 Net Hits (but you do this twice with Gunslinger)
Average Melee Output without Darksaber = 1.25 Hits
Average Melee Output w/ Darksaber (Pierce 1, Impact 1) = 3.14 Hits
Let’s take a look at the expected average wounds to a group of Rebel Troopers and Stormtroopers. We will always use this as our standard of comparison and this may change with the release of the Clone Wars units.

“Ezra, the armor I wear is five hundred years old. I reforged it to my liking, but the battles, the history, the blood all lives within it. And the same goes for every Mandalorian.”
–Sabine Wren, Star Wars: Rebels
Art and war don’t often mix, but Sabine Wren is one of the rare exceptions. Carrying on the warrior traditions of her Mandalorian forebears, she is a formidable warrior, equally skilled in both ranged and hand-to-hand combat. At the same time, her talents as an artist are on full display while she fights, her customized Mandalorian armor setting her apart from soldiers on both sides. Continue reading →
TX-225 GAVw Occupier Combat Assault Tank Unit Expansion
For the Galactic Empire, conquering a planet is only the beginning of the battle. Massive vehicles like AT-STs and elite shock troops like Imperial Death Troopers may be effective at sweeping across battlefields and capturing new territory, but they rarely stick around to hold this ground. A TX-225 GAVw Occupier Combat Assault Tank, however, is more than enough to quell any resistance to Imperial occupation.

With the forthcoming Clone Wars core set I’m intrigued with how the current factions of the Empire, and the Rebellion will interact with the two new factions. What’s interesting is that these factions shouldn’t have answers for each other because they never actually faced each other in a star war. But in terms of the game they will need to have answers as they will frequently be going head to head with the CIS and the Republic.
Currently the Imperial faction is built to represent their presence during Galactic Civil War and their struggle with the Rebel Alliance. The advent of the Republic faction gives FFG the opportunity to dive backwards on the timeline during the Dark Times era and release units that will be more suited in fighting lightsaber wielding Jedi.
I believe it’s a safe bet that we’ll see the release of the Inquisitors and Purge Troopers as Imperial counters to the Republic faction’s Jedi. Though it’s highly unlikely we’ll ever see Imperial Clone Troopers or a pre Cyborg Darth Vader, it would be interesting if they eventually made an Order 66 scenario.
What do you think? Do you agree that we’ll likely see Dark Times/Jedi Purge units hit the streets Q4 of this year or Q1 of next year? How do you think they’ll balance the Rebellion vs the Republic? Or do you think Luke and Sabine are enough to combatant full fledge Jedi? With that being said, I’m 100% sure we won’t see Jedi swarm as they’ll most likely be too expensive. So an Obi Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka list might not be feasible.
Just some thoughts, let me know what you think in the comments.
