Peter Mayhew, best known for his role as Chewbacca in the Star Warsfilm series, has died at aged 74.
“The family of Peter Mayhew, with deep love and sadness, regrets to share the news that Peter has passed away,” a tweet posted on the actor’s Twitter page read on Thursday afternoon. “He left us the evening of April 30, 2019 with his family by his side in his North Texas home.”
I had the pleasure of teaming up with Nick Freeman and Impact X once again for another Alt. Art Card.
This time around it’s everyone’s favorite walking carpet, Chewbacca.
I did the cartoony side! I love how these cards are turning out!

General Solo, is your strike team assembled?
Everyone’s favorite scruffy looking nerf-herder, Han Solo is a disruptive and versatile commander. He tears up trooper units at range 2 and has some excellent command cards, but he is weak in melee and extremely vulnerable to pierce weapons.
Welcome to our deep dive for Han Solo. Han is all about his command cards, so this article is going to be a little lighter on stats than the typical deep dive. We’ll also hit some list ideas at the end.
- Powerful and disruptive command cards
- Strong pistol attack with gunslinger
- Good save (for a Rebel unit)
- Vulnerable to Pierce
- Command cards are very timing dependent
- Weak in melee
Before we get into Han’s stats, lets talk briefly about Chewie. Chewie helps mitigate some of Han’s primary weaknesses; he can soak pierce hits for him (especially sniper hits) and peel stuff off in melee with his 4-5 red dice. Chewie also lets Han recycle a command card with Notorious Scoundrels and share dodges/aims. Chewie is expensive, though, for what he does. We’ll talk about using Han with Chewie in a separate section, below. Don’t worry; Chewie will get his own article eventually.

I hope you all had a great holiday season! I meant to post this up but alias I’ve been sick!
Incase you needed some tips in painting those lovable fur balls you most certainly picked up last week, here is another wonderful tutorial from the master miniature painter himself, Sorastro. The tutorial features Chewbacca of course, but also includes Gaarkhan which gives you a second option for those Wookiee Warriors. After following these guides you should be able to create your own custom paint jobs for the rest of your walking carpets.

Today marks the long awaited day that the wookiees join the fight against the Galactic Empire. And of course FFG has a little write up about their release:
As Han Solo’s ever-faithful companion, Chewbacca isn’t afraid to follow his friends into battle. Once there, it isn’t hard to see how he can aid Rebel commanders as they attempt to capture crucial objectives or secure a foothold on the battlefield. His immense strength and personal connection to Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa make him a natural choice to join these iconic heroes on the battlefield as an operative.
Inside the Chewbacca Operative Expansion, you’ll find everything you need to add Chewbacca to your Rebel army in Star Wars™: Legion. A single unpainted, easily assembled miniature depicts Chewbacca roaring into battle, his trusty bowcaster at the ready. Three upgrade cards provide more tools for preparing Chewbacca and your other units for battle, and three command cards can add more variety to your hand, allowing Chewbacca to team up with the three Rebel commanders.

Despite their imposing size, Wookiees are normally peaceful and proud. After years of suffering under Imperial rule, however, many Wookiees have taken to the battlefields of the Galactic Civil War as members of the Rebel Alliance. Although they are a rare sight on the battlefield, Wookiees can quickly enter a berserker rage that any surviving enemies will not soon forget.
Within the Wookiee Warriors Unit Expansion for Star Wars: Legion, Rebel generals will find everything they need to add a group of Wookiees to their army as a special forces unit. Four unpainted, easily assembled miniatures display the Wookiees charging into the fray brandishing their Ryyk Blades, while five unique upgrade cards can prepare them for whatever they may face on the battlefield.

FFG has changed the status of Chewbacca and his warring carpet friends to “Shipping Now”. This should make their release officially Dec 20th here in the USA and around that date for the rest of the world.
Just in time for Santa to insure these are safely under your trees Christmas morning.
With his enormous strength, Chewbacca is a valuable asset for the Rebellion in any fight. From the depths of the Death Star, to the frozen plains of Hoth, to the forest moon of Endor, he has demonstrated time and again the power of having a Wookiee on your side. But perhaps even more valuable than his size and strength is Chewbacca’s unwavering loyalty to his friends.
Willing to follow Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa into any conflict, Chewbacca lends his aid to each of these bold leaders on the battlefields of the Galactic Civil War. Soon, Chewbacca will be able to team up with these heroes during your games of Star Wars™: Legion with the Chewbacca Operative Expansion.
