FFG: Official Rulings

Question: If Sabine Wren is equipped with the Darksaber and is defending against Darth Vader’s melee attack, does she roll three additional defense dice thanks to her Impervious keyword, even though the Darksaber grants her the Immune: Pierce keyword?

Answer: No. If a unit has both the Impervious and the Immune: Pierce keywords, the Impervious keyword has no effect because Pierce is not being used for that attack.

Clone Wars Core Set Releasing in July?

The most recent issue of Game Trade Magazine has the Clone Wars Core Set along with its accompanying expansions listed with a release date of July 31st.

Previously the Core Set was said to be released in the Fall.

With all of the recent confusion circulating around Star Wars Legion’s release schedule most are dubious with the July date.

Downed AT-ST Back on the Boat with Sabine and Bossk

The Downed AT-ST’s release has been wobbly at best, but what would you expect from something that can’t even stand?

The Battlefield Expansion is now listed as “On the Boat”, but this time it’s sailing with Sabine and Bossk who have spent months at the printers. (must be all of the extra arms and heads).

I have nothing to confirm this but I’m speculating a release for all three expansions on June 27th, but hoping for June 20th.

FFG: Preview the Bossk Operative Expansion

In a galaxy stricken by increasingly brazen “rebellion,” the Galactic Empire has come to rely on the talents of a cadre of infamous bounty hunters to supplement its forces and take down high profile Rebel leaders. Among the most widely feared of these hunters is the cold-blooded Bossk.

Remorseless and brutally efficient, this reptilian warrior has carved himself a reputation equaled only by the notorious Boba Fett. His success is at least partly a result of his unique Trandoshan physiology, which allows him to heal from otherwise deadly wounds at an astonishing rate. When Imperial military commanders have a target in mind, few can equal the raw ferocity and cunning of Bossk. Soon, you can harness the firepower and ferocity of a born hunter with the Bossk Operative Expansion for Star Wars™: Legion. Continue reading →

Imperial Discipline: Creating a 500-Point Format for Legion

Kevin Valliere writes:

Let’s cut to the chase.

Sometimes, Legion can feel like it goes on forever. Two and a half hours passes by quickly in the heat of a competitive moment, but decidedly less so if the game is lopsided or you’ve been forced into a bye. And with somewhere in the neighborhood 40 of your minis on the table at once, that’s a massive time commitment for newbies to invest just in assembly and organization, let alone actually painting the damn things or getting them on the table for a full match.

So if you’re trying to rope in new players or give veterans something different, how do you manage it?

I’m happy to present a project I’ve been working on for some time now: a standardized 500-pt Legion format for leagues and tournaments. The fast facts:

  • 500 Points
  • 3′ x 3′ map (a la X-Wing)
  • 75-minute round timer
  • 5-turn maximum

Yavin Base: The General’s Strict Orders

While Luke, Han and soon Sabine headline the popular Rebel lists, there is one woman behind them all: Leia Organa, the bedrock of the Rebel Alliance. She is the best support character available in the game, hands down. The reasons for this are myriad. Among them is Leia’s ability to equip two Command upgrades, so you’ll have plenty of room to add Strict Orders, a relatively new and powerful Command upgrade, to your army. In this article, we’ll explore just how Strict Orders functions in a rebel army, and how it’s especially good on Leia Organa.

Strict Orders is a card avilable in the Jyn Erso expansion. It is a 5 point Command upgrade that says the following:

“When a friendly trooper unit with a faceup order token activates, during its Rally step, it may remove 1 suppression token instead of rolling dice.”

Yet more confirmation that Krennic is just Imperial Leia…

It seems innocuous at first – one suppression token doesn’t seem like much these days in a world of Suppressive weaponry, Dauntless, Compel, Saboteurs and Annihilation Looms. But on the flip side, how many times have games come down to whether or not you can get rid of a single suppression at an opportune time?

Down AT-ST Now Available…Well Sorta

The release schedule for the now ironically named Downed AT-ST Battlefield Expansion has had a rocky release schedule. Originally speculated to release at the end of June, players were surprised when it received a release date of May 30. Then the last week of May the distribution site gave a release date of late June while European players found the expansion on their store shelves that same week.

Today on the FFG official page, the Downed AT-ST’s release date has been changed to June 3rd which is today but no US stores seem to have received their shipments and Amazon has it listed as a preorder that will ship on July 1.

So check with your local store before heading out to pick up your preorder. If it’s not currently there then it might be there…..?
