Imperial Discipline Blog: How to Create a Kessel Spice Mines Base

I liked Solo.

I think the critical reception was much more “meh” than “bad,” but I don’t think it got a fair shake in the theaters. And so it is with great pleasure that I attempt to tackle one of my favorite set pieces from the film: the spice mines of Kessel recreated in miniature base form.

From the Visual Guide:

Choking smoke and toxic fossil fuel? Perfect! Let’s get started. Here’ what you’ll need:

  • Vallejo Earth Texture
  • Vallejo Water Effects
  • Vallejo Foam Effects
  • Citadel Agrax Earth Shade
  • Citadel Athonian Camoshade and/or Seraphim Sepia
  • Citadel Lahmian Medium
  • Paint of your choosing in green, brown, beige, and yellow
  • A small craft sponge

Fair warning, this one is a bit trickier than the others. But thankfully, through some serious trial and error I’ve got what I think is a foolproof plan of attack.

Never Tell Me The Odds Blog: LVO – The Data Article; Part 1

I love me some data.  Don’t you love you some data?  Strap on some assless chaps, because we’re about to go for a ride.

“There are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics” – Mark Twain

So, the Las Vegas Open happened.  If you missed my brief recap and the top 6 lists from last week, check it out here.

Scope

The Legion tournament at LVO had 62 players, and those 62 players played 125 games.  I have in my hot little hands all 62 lists, and all 125 match report slips.

The match report slips were specifically designed for data collection.  On said slips were the player names, who won (obviously), red/blue player, factions, battle cards played, number of turns finished, and final score.  Below is an example of what the slips looked like.

Unfortunately not everyone filled out every field.  Final turn # was often left blank, which we will get to shortly.

Impact X: Chewy Alt Art Cards Revealed

I had the pleasure of teaming up with Nick Freeman and Impact X once again for another Alt. Art Card.

This time around it’s everyone’s favorite walking carpet, Chewbacca.

I did the cartoony side! I love how these cards are turning out!

FFG: Preview the Rebel Pathfinders Unit Expansion for Star Wars: Legion

The odds are stacked against the Rebel Alliance in almost every confrontation with the Empire, but especially so for the Rebel’s special forces units. Often operating deep behind enemy lines, these elite operatives are accustomed to facing the full weight of the Imperial war machine without the support of a larger army. The Rebel Pathfinders show a particular dedication to the cause of the Rebellion, often volunteering for the most dangerous missions.

Impact X Blog: Rebel Pathfinders – Unit Analysis

swl21_preview1.jpg

Rebel Pathfinders are best known for the battle at the Imperial archives on Scariff. They the are the first in and last out, often putting their life on the line to enter a theatre of battle ahead of the main forces to prepare the battlefield for the rest of the army. In Star Wars: Legion the Rebel Pathfinders are the Rebels fourth elite unit option. Their training and equipment make them self-sufficient and versatile in many different roles – and as such see specialized use in the Rebel forces.
